Homesteading
SHERWOOD FARM & FOREST
This is the vision for our family homestead, blending sustainable historic practices of Old Europe, especially England, such as coppicing, hedgerows and wattle fencing with modern Permaculture principles and practices like honoring and working cooperatively with Nature and community. Robin Hood is an unusual hero in that he doesn't "save the day" by himself like Superman but is a great historic-mythic community organizer, combining cleverness, humor, justice and kindness in acts of resistance and solidarity that empower his fellow community members. He's not the biggest, nor the strongest, yet he prevails by believing in his neighbors and caring for them, and taking risks for his ideals.
Projects on deck for this year include a cob wood-fired oven and rustic shelter over it, wattle fence panels around the gardens, a berry terrace, beekeeping, rotational grazing and silvapasturing a horse, a cow, a goat and some chickens, building some popple sapling chicken tractors, planting a large garden and putting up food for the winter.
Farm products for sale include pork, baby beef, fresh raw Jersey milk and goat milk.

PERMACULTURE APPRENTICE
I am looking for an apprentice to learn and help with milking and other animal chores, making dairy products, crafts, gardening and other homestead projects. This program may turn into a Permaculture certification course as well. I was certified through Earth Activist Training in 2009.
