VERSHIRE SHOP & CAFE
The Vershire Shop offers fun and practical hand-made items created by talented artisans right here in our community. We have a steady stream of regulars and visitors who love the maple cream, fudge and candies - besides the syrup - holiday gifts or home accessories - hand-knit sweaters, hand-woven scarves, quilted totes - books, CDs and paintings by local authors, musicians and artists - healing salves, yarn and roving, jewelry, granola, gift cards and more.
Drop in to browse and stay for coffee, tea or cocoa with homemade brunch treats like scones and muffins, chevre and farmer's cheese, fruit salads and deviled eggs for a free-will donation. We welcome crafters to bring projects and sometimes hold craft circles or other events during cafe hours.
We are open 10-1 every Saturday (and we usually stay late because we're having so much fun!). The Vershire Library is open at the same time and offers a fantastic selection of children's books and toys as well as outdoor play space. We are located on Rt. 113 at Vershire Ctr. Rd. in Vershire, Vermont.
The Vershire Shop is a project of Vershare, which is committed to "enhancing the spirit of community involvement, fostering economic development and contributing to projects to benefit the residents of Vershire, Vermont." The Shop is run by a core group of volunteers with a circle of Friends supporting our efforts. I am a vendor and a member of the core group and I lead craft circles and demonstrations in the shop and cafe. We welcome new Friends and vendors and are looking for people to help develop the cafe as well so please visit, email or call 802-685-7752 to get involved!

BARTNERSHIP
Bartnership combines the words "barter" and "partnership" but it's more than just barter. It's a whole network of local economic relationships, not as formal as a time bank, but some combination of cash, credit, goods, services and friendship. Not everything is given a dollar value, some things are. It's based on the conversation: "What do you have and what do you need? Here's what I have and what I need." The objective is to provide for ourselves locally as much as possible, reducing dependence on outside sources and creating relationships that support all parties not only economically but socially as well.
Bartnership really encourages people to develop ongoing communication and get to know each other. So many times we exclaim, "I didn't know you do that!" when we discover some unknown talent in an acquaintance while negotiating a barter agreement. There is so much more to most people than just what they do at their "day jobs" and sometimes bartnership can inspire one or both people to develop a skill or dream that had been on the back burner or hadn't had the confidence to pursue. It can end up being really nurturing and enriching to the individuals, the relationship and the community.

BULK BUYING CLUB
For folks in the Vershire, Vermont area, there is interest in starting a bulk food buying club that would order from distributors and possibly be a CSA pickup as well, perhaps at Vershare. Please contact me by email or phone 802-685-7752 if you would like to participate in this.
